Bridal Veil Tiaras, Prom Tiaras, and Special Events Tiaras in Genuine Crystal

There is something romantic and timeless about Bridal Tiaras. Years ago, tiaras were worn by women to indicate their married status, but now as they have become more affordable and more widely available, this elegant accessory has been adopted by women across all ages, and for many different occasions, ranging from prom nights, special events and functions, pageants, the opera, the theatre, hen nights etc.

The Tiara you choose be it for your wedding day or for any other function will be an expression of your personality, style and dress sense.

For instance, if you are flamboyant and outgoing by nature you might want to choose a Bridal Tiara for your wedding day that is slightly larger and more lavishily decorated with crystals and beading.

Or maybe your wedding dress is very simple, and elegant in design, so you might want a tiara that will not overpower, the design of the dress, or conversely you might want something a little bit more showy to add some sparkle to the dress. Again whatever you choose will be a reflection of your personal style and taste. Also remember that you want your tiara to compliment your veil (if you choose to wear one) and hairstyle and not only your dress.

Tiaras as we all know are also a symbol of power and status and have been worn for generations by royalty, the aristocracy and the affluently powerful, and some of the most famous tiaras can be found in the many museums around the world such as the Museum of Fine Arts, The Louvre and The Victoria and Albert Museum to name just a few.

One of the most powerful and longest serving monarchs in the world was Queen Victoria, and one of her favourite pieces of jewellery was an exquisitely crafted and beautiful Emerald and Diamond Tiara which was one of four tiaras designed by her husband Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. This stunning tiara was designed in the Gothic style with large drop shaped cabachon cut emeralds and brilliant diamonds, and this piece of jewellery certainly put a whole new meaning to the term "Power Dressing". This beautiful Emerald and Diamond Tiara never did become part of the Crown Jewels but was the personal property of Queen Victoria, and so when she died she left it to one of her descendents. This beautiful tiara was last seen in 1997 on loan from, it is presumed one of Queen Victoria's descendants for an Exhibition called "One Hundred Tiaras - An Evolution of Style 1800-1900", but it cannot be verified as to who owns this historic piece of jewellery today, and it has never been seen in public since the 1997 Exhibition.

Tiaras as we have already said are not only a symbol of power but also of status, and in Victorian times a young unmarried girl would never wear a tiara. Much like a wedding ring that indicates your married status so, the tiara would have indicated that you were married and no longer available.

Most of us today cannot run to diamonds and emeralds but there is a huge range of beautiful tiaras now available set with rhinestones or dimante crystals, synthetic pearls and other imitation stones, for the modern bride which can also be a lovely reminder of your special day or a keepsake of your little bit of history to leave behind for those you love.

But of course we are not tied down by tradition and rules as were those of the Victorian era, and Tiaras can be worn not just on your wedding day but on many different occasions now, and by people across a wide range of ages. For example the Pageant Tiara which is worn by children as young as 5, or a tiara worn for a special occasion by an elderly dowager, a tiara for an elegant function with a strict dress code, a tiara worn for important or state functions by the aristocracy or as a symbol of "power dressing", and then we have the tiara worn for bachelorette parties or hen parties as we would call them in the UK, and finally the Prom Night Queen who also gets to wear a tiara, and we forget to mention if you do not fall in any of these categories you might just choose to buy one because you just jolly well like them and want to treat yourself.
